Responsive web design solutions work for business-to-business companies that need a mobile-optimised site and are in need of boosting its search engine rankings.
A website design professional should implement responsive web design solutions for a business-to-business company if that organization needs a mobile-optimised site and is especially in need of boosting its search engine rankings, according to an August 6 BtoB Magazine article.
Responsive design allows one URL to be used across all screens, meaning the resolution and view is automatically adjusted based on the internet-enabled device's parameters.
This type of formatting offers a number of key advantages for B2B companies. For one, it means that a business needs to worry only about maintaining one URL while still providing an optimised browsing experience for computers and mobile devices, BtoB Magazine reported.
In addition, having one URL that works for all internet users is good SEO web design, since it allows a company to focus its efforts on boosting the ranking of just one page. The other main method a web design expert may implement would be a dual URL format, with one URL specifically for desktops and laptops and another one specifically for mobile devices. This does mean that a company then has an additional website to worry about, the magazine said.
Despite what the magazine said regarding the benefits of responsive design, the dual URL format may actually be beneficial for some B2B companies. For example, some B2B company websites may use tools that would not work well on a mobile device regardless of whether the main site has a responsive corporate web design format, according to the news source.
"The short answer is that it simply isn't right for everyone," Matthew Braga wrote in a May ArsTechnica article. "Because of differences in how ads are served on mobile and desktop sites, larger, editorially driven sites can often have a harder time embracing responsive design. Or, in other cases, mobile sites boast certain features or functionality that developers feel don't translate well with responsive design."
